The pattern we see most often
In Harare, Bulawayo, and growing towns, home invasions often start with reconnaissance: strangers noting gate routines, domestic worker schedules, or whether alarms are actually armed at night. Entry points are frequently the kitchen door, garage, or an unsecured perimeter wall—not always the front gate.
Hardening that works
- Layered access — Gate intercom, perimeter beam or fence detection, and door contacts on all external openings.
- Lighting & visibility — Motion-activated lights on approaches; trim hedges that hide intruders from the street.
- Armed response path — Ensure your alarm signals reach a 24/7 control room with a verified escalation SOP, not only a siren.
- Household briefing — Everyone should know the panic procedure: where to go, who calls the control room, and when not to confront intruders.
If an invasion is in progress
Prioritise life over property. Use your panic channel if installed, move to a pre-agreed safe area, and avoid confronting armed suspects. Universe Security links residential alarms to our control centre with GPS-tracked response coordination across Zimbabwe.
Request a residential security assessment to align technology, guarding, and monitoring to your property layout.
